DC and Boys & Girls Clubs of America Celebrates Those Who Stand Up for Positive Change—Just Like Batman –In Celebration of Batman’s 80th Anniversary And Batman Day
In celebration of Batman’s 80th Anniversary this year and Batman Day, September 21st, Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee (BGCMT) has partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and DC to shine a light on a Batman in their Club community.
Herb Myers is recognized as that real life superhero! Selected by BGCMT, this outstanding individual represents the qualities and attributes Batman has embodied for over 80 years and counting.
Batman has stood as a symbol of courage, bravery, and perseverance, protecting others in times of need. Batman celebrates those who stand up for positive change in their communities. Myers exemplifies Batman, and BGCMT is honored to celebrate his commitment to Boys & Girls Club’s mission and looking out for youth in need.
Myers is a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served for four years. He has been with Boys & Girls Clubs as a Club Professional for eight years and currently serves as the Cleveland Park Clubhouse Director. In three years, Myers has transformed an underutilized building into a beacon of hope – with more than 900 local young people benefitting from Boys & Girls Clubs’ youth-development programs. For many youth, Myers is a counselor, mentor, and father-figure; he’s someone they know they can count on.
“Our Boys & Girls Club, the youth we serve, are very lucky to have an individual such as Herb to care and watch out for them,” said Dan Jernigan, BGCMT’s President/CEO. “He is a tremendous asset to our community. Just like Batman, Herb inspires hope and opportunity; through his leadership, he fosters development in those he leads.”
