Safety & Security

Rest Assured.

The safety of young people at Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee is always our top priority. Youth who are mentally and physically safe are better able to learn, grow, and thrive. BGCMT works continuously to enhance safety policies, practices, and trainings to ensure they are centered on youth’s needs. There is nothing more important to us than keeping children safe and protected.

BGCMT does not tolerate inappropriate behavior of any kind, including child sexual abuse or misconduct. From strict adherence to policies and guidelines within Club facilities and staffing structure, to equipping young people with the critical thinking and social-emotional skills to make healthy, safe choices, ensuring Club members are safe is the first step to their success.

Our commitment is to ensure unwavering adherence to safety requirements, standards and best practices for the protection of our members and staff. Safety & security measures include, but are not limited to:

Onboarding & Background Checks

  • BGCMT requires background checks for all BGCMT employees, volunteers and board members, as well as fingerprinting for BGCMT employees and recurring volunteers. The only exception is for those volunteering in a capacity that excludes any direct contact with Club youth or a group, one-day activity supervised by BGCMT staff.
  • Onboarding also includes First Aid and CPR Training for all staff, and training on safety and security procedures and strategies

  • Conduct yearly active shooter and active intruder trainings with support from the Metro Nashville Police Department, Franklin Police Department, and Department of Public Safety
  • Conduct bi-annual safety trainings
